Tardy

I have a couple of IOUs that have been in my to do pile for awhile and now they're done and ready to go postal tomorrow morning. Here are the fun techniques I used:

"Custom" painted white chipboard letters to match the patterned papers.

Sanded embossed cardstock to reveal the white core underneath, cut out coordinating fabric patterns to go with the page, and drew line borders:

Thanks for looking and my apologies for sending these late.

Thanks, Friend!

A few weeks ago, I received a care package from my friend Maria. It contained a couple of items I'd never used before: glimmer mist and gossamer fiber, so I thought I'd experiment with them yesterday. Here are the results:

Here's how I did it:
- Spread mod podge on a piece of white cardstock and lay the gossamer fiber over it and gently patted it to stick and dry.
- Placed a Heidi Swapp butterfly mask over the page and sprayed it all with glimmer mist, then let it dry.
- Used my X-acto knife to cut out the desired butterly shape and pushed up the sides.
- Cut KI Memories lace to make body and antennas for the butterfly and inked the edges
- Cut out to desired size and distressed the edges of the rectangle with x-acto knife
- Placed on Making Memories 5th Avenue journaling paper, ruffled the spiral bound edges
- embellished with Kaiser pearls
- painted bare chipboard with black paint and when dry, sprayed with glimmer mist, used cream colored ink to tone down the black
- arranged all these on inked package backing from another product (happy to recycle)
- punched holes and threaded them with ribbon from Stampin' Up for hanging.

I hope you enjoy it, Maria and thank you for inspiring this fun project!

Thanks for looking!

Friends

Sometimes we just need to get away and spend some time doing absolutely nothing relating to motherhood, or children, and for no other reason than to do something different. My friend said she'd be in the area and why don't we get together, so we did for a little scrappy shopping and lunch. It felt like a mini vacation, and sparked my creativity to make her a card, just because.

Ever since I saw this idea on Keisha Campbell's blog, I've wanted to try it. Sure had fun painting, mod podging, threading, sticking, tying and blinging it up. Thanks for looking!

Layout Steps and Title Help

When my hubby brought home a yummy strawberry cream pie from Marie Calenders a couple weeks ago, I really was inspired by the box!

Then I saw a challenge to use bright colors like yellow and red in a layout over at Colorstory Challenges, so was inspired to use these new papers in the We are Memory Keepers - Whiteout paper line along with a little SEI Dill Blossom to make a bright spring colored layout and since the paper is distressed in white, I carried that idea through and had fun with my white paint. I also haven't scrapped an 8 1/2 x 11 page for awhile, so I decided to make this page that fun size.

And now I'm stuck. I'm not used to this! Usually I'll start a layout and keep at it until it's done, no matter what time of day or night it is, but this one has me. I know I want to use buttons, not sure about some flowers to add dimension? And I can't figure out a title. This picture was taken a few weeks ago when it was just warm enough to go to the park to play in the warm spring sunshine. The rainbow arc my little guy is hanging from is actually a sprinkler at the water play area that we take the kids to a lot in the summer. Journaling reads: "In a couple of months, this play area will be crowded with kids and there won't be any climbing on a wet rainbow."

4/19/08 ETA: I'm done! Thank you so much for your suggestions, which I definitely used. Here's the final result called, "Sunshiny Springtime Fun!"

For the letters, I used scribbles alphabet stamps from Autumn Leaves, tiny alpha stickers are Adornit by Carolee's creations, flower from Prima, pens - American Crafts precision & Signo white uniball, buttons and thread.
